Background

My story

didn’t enter travel as a planner — I grew into it through building, operating and living tourism in Namibia. Coming from a Namibian family business established in 1958, I’ve spent years working across different sectors before focusing my efforts on what I believe matters most: shaping how people experience this country in a way that is both commercially sound and genuinely meaningful. Today, through About Africa Co, my work goes far beyond designing itineraries. I am involved in lodge stewardship, tourism development, and investment-driven projects across Namibia — from the remote Atlantic edge at Pelican Point Lodge to new concepts like Maramopane Lodge & Estate, envisioned as a refined gateway to Etosha. What drives me is simple: Namibia is one of the last truly vast and authentic destinations in the world — and it deserves to be experienced properly. I am passionate about: – conservation and wildlife – community-driven tourism – building sustainable, long-term tourism models – creating experiences that feel real, not manufactured Many of the journeys I design reflect this philosophy — moving from wildlife and desert landscapes to the Skeleton Coast, always with a strong sense of place, pace and purpose. When you travel with me, you’re not booking a trip. You’re gaining access to Namibia through someone who builds in it, works in it, and believes deeply in its future.

Philosophy

My approach

My approach to travel design is highly personal and rooted in how Namibia should actually be experienced - not rushed, not overdone, and never generic. I work on a concierge level, starting with understanding who you are as a traveller - your pace, your interests, your comfort level with remoteness, and what you truly want to take away from the journey. Namibia is vast, and the greatest mistake is trying to see too much in too little time. I design journeys that prioritise space, rhythm and connection - allowing each place to be experienced properly. I favour: – fewer locations, experienced more deeply – properties with character and authenticity – seamless logistics, especially for remote travel – a balance between wilderness, comfort and culture Many of my journeys follow a bush-to-beach flow - from wildlife areas and desert landscapes to the raw Atlantic coastline - creating a natural progression through the country. My clients are typically well-travelled and looking for something more meaningful than a standard safari. They value privacy, authenticity and a sense of place. Luxury is part of the experience - but always with purpose, never excess.
