My Travel Guide to Rome 🇮🇹
Rome is one of those cities that feels like a living museum. Every street has history, every corner tells a story. I had the chance to visit some of the most iconic places, and here’s how I experienced them — plus a few tips to help you enjoy your trip even more.
1. Spanish Steps – The Perfect Start
I started my journey at the Spanish Steps. It’s one of the most famous meeting points in Rome, and the atmosphere is always lively. People sit, relax, and take in the view of the city. Early morning or sunset is the best time to visit if you want fewer crowds and better photos.
Tip: Don’t sit too long on the steps—there are rules now, and fines can happen.
2. Trevi Fountain – Make a Wish
From there, I walked to the Trevi Fountain. Seeing it in person is something else—the size, the details, the sound of water… it’s powerful. Of course, I tossed a coin over my shoulder (legend says it means you’ll return to Rome).
Tip: Go very early in the morning or late at night to avoid huge crowds.
3. Colosseum – The Icon of Rome
The Colosseum is one of the most impressive structures I’ve ever seen. Standing there, you can really imagine what ancient Rome was like. It’s massive and full of history.
Tip: Book your ticket online in advance to skip long lines. A guided tour is worth it if you want to understand the history better.
4. Roman Forum – Walk Through Ancient History
Right next to the Colosseum is the Roman Forum. This place feels like stepping back in time. You walk among ruins that were once the center of Roman life—markets, temples, politics.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll walk a lot, and the ground is uneven.
5. Galleries – Art and Culture
Rome’s galleries are full of incredible art. From sculptures to paintings, you can see masterpieces that are centuries old. It’s a different pace compared to the busy streets—more calm and reflective.
Tip: Check opening times in advance and consider booking tickets early, especially for popular galleries.
Final Thoughts
Rome is not just about the landmarks—it’s about the feeling. Walking through the streets, grabbing a coffee, eating authentic Italian food, and just enjoying the vibe is what makes the trip unforgettable.
If you plan well and take your time, Rome will give you an experience you’ll remember for life.
