Expert advice from people who've actually been there.

Last year was a privileged year as i got to travel to Athens, one of my favourite destinations of all times.

My stay consisted of 7 days. We booked the flight tickets several months before and we booked the Airbnb a few weeks before our departure date.

On the first day of the arrival we went into Monastiraki and browsed around and looked to eat local traditional food. On the 2nd day we booked the Acropolis tour. Best experience ever to hike up and see the capital from up above.

3rd day we decided to do a beach day and so we took the metro to Glyfada and have a relaxing day after a well deserved hike the day before. And since we were at the beach, we also decided to eat seafood and try the Greek seafood, which was nice but I am not a fan of seafood.

4th day followed by us taking the ferry and going to Athens' closest island, Aegina aka The Pistachio Island since whenever you go on the island there will always be markets that sell pistachio in all shapes of forms, started from roasted pistachios and pistachio creams to perfumes and many more.

The 5th and 6th days have been very chill. In one of the evenings we have went to Lycabettus Hill to catch the best sunset over the city, and see the city lights. In the day time we went to the Panathenaic Stadium where we had a guided tour teaching us a about history and key moments in the sports history. 6th day was a very basic day for shopping on Ermou Street. Cannot recommend that place enough. And later on we went to the Zappeio at their National Botanical Park, Plaka and the National Archaeologic Museum by foot. City centre is very accessible by foot.

7th day was our arrival back into the UK but with many memories created in such a vibrant but historic city.
