Rome, you are chaos and charm, beauty and bedlam…
I’ll be honest, it’s a bit of a love/hate relationship that I have with Rome. The crowds, the heat, the sensory overload — it can test you. But just when you think you’ve had enough, Rome hands you a moment so perfect it stays with you forever.
For me, one of those moments lives in the Borghese Gardens.
One afternoon, our group hired pedal bikes, laughing uncontrollably, weaving through tree-lined paths, completely carefree. It was one of those rare travel moments where nothing is planned, but everything is perfect. And then, just as we caught our breath, we wandered into the Borghese Gallery — calm, uncrowded, and quietly breathtaking.
Inside, it felt like a different Rome. Slower. Softer. Surrounded by masterpieces, we actually had space to pause and take it all in. No rushing, no jostling — just art, stillness, and that quiet kind of awe. Even the gallery café and shop felt like a treat, the kind you don’t want to rush through.
Honestly? I’d skip the Vatican any day for this experience.
I don't know about you, but I like to wander galleries at my own pace and take the time to soak it all in.

Then there was the night near the Colosseum — the one that none of us will ever forget.
A cooking class that quickly turned into a full-blown Italian celebration. We made tiramisu, rolled fresh pasta, and were guided by the most incredible host who made sure our wine glasses were never empty. There was music, singing, laughter — the kind that makes your cheeks hurt — and that warm, slightly chaotic joy that only comes from shared food and good company.
Yes, there were a few sore heads the next morning… but absolutely no regrets.

Rome might not always be easy, but when it gets it right, it really gets it right. And it’s those moments — the laughter, the connection, the unexpected magic — that will keep pulling you back.
